What is happening?
There are promises that have been issued by the LORD that he has been waiting for many to consciously accept, agree, and receive by faith.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1
The seed of God’s declaration has been poised and ready to fertilise the substance that is our faith, that God’s will may be birthed in the earth.
This word specifically regards the promises that have been spoken by the LORD that the LORD himself is beckoning forth. This includes physical pregnancies resulting in children, and symbolic pregnancies resulting in the establishment and birth of ministries, books, marriages, manifested miracles, and more.
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8
As it was in the time of Isaiah, the LORD is searching for willing messengers to surrender to and release his decrees on the earth. As it was in the case of Mary (the young virgin), the LORD has presented himself to the children of God, wielding with Him an opportunity and invitation to partner with him in birthing His will on the earth.
These realities are not in contradiction to one another. They are one and the same. To birth his promises is to tangibly release his decrees in the earth, and to digest (Ezekiel 3:1,10) and release his decrees on the earth is to birth his promises. The purpose of the promises that are set for release are to testify of the validity of the word of the LORD, and the reliability of his character.
John the Baptist was a promise provided to fulfil the duty of preparing the way for Christ Jesus (the Word [John 1:1]). John was a promise given to Zechariah & Elizabeth with a holy agenda (Luke 1:11-17). As he grew, John the Baptist recognized and fulfilled his holy function (John 3:22-30). There is an expectation that the promises, once conceived, will also be surrendered to fulfil their heavenly purposes.
Whilst we are on the topic of Zechariah…
Many have found themselves feeling ‘silenced’ in a sense:
18 Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.” 19 The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. 20 And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.” – Luke 1:18-20
For some, it was so their jaded declarations of doubt may not taint their (and others’) seed(s) of faith (that is a vital source of fuel for the growing promise). The Lord is opening the mouths of many ‘Zechariah’s’, for their declarations are now beginning to align with the will and purposes of God (see below).
59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” 61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.” 62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. – Luke 1:59-64
For others, it has been a silence similar to the one brought upon Ezekiel (quoted below), as the nations were not yet prepared or willing to receive what the LORD sought to birth through them.
I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious people. – Ezekiel 3:26
And for the remaining, the silencing has been largely due to the intimidation, threats and afflictions of the evil one, as was the case of Elijah when threatened by Jezebel (see passage below). Yet and still, they have emerged from hiding after having found renewed courage, strength, and instruction in the Lord.
1 When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. 2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.” 3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. 4 Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.” 5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!” 6 He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again. 7 Then the angel of the LORD came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.” 8 So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God. – 1 Kings 19:1-8
What to expect:
As you partner with the LORD in faith, you can expect a pregnancy (a process) to ensue. Expect to conceive the vision of the LORD, and expect to endure the process of growing and birthing that manifested reality in the earth.
This process can be summarised in 5 key stages of pregnancy & birth:
1. First Trimester = This is an intimate and sacred time between you and the LORD that is marked by anticipation, discovery & confirmation of the promise. In this period, there are essential foundations, revelations, and instructions relating to the promise that are built in the secret place. This is a place of private consolidation. Here, your spiritual senses adapt, adjust, and grow in sensitivity. You will also begin to learn to adjust to some of the discomforts associated with growing a promise.
2. Second Trimester = You are now beginning to show. What was formerly a hidden reality has now become visible evidence that glory is growing inside of you. Be careful not to become prideful in this stage [see Genesis 16:4 NLT ~ So Abram had sexual relations with Hagar, and she became pregnant. But when Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sarai, with contempt.]. You may be showing, but you are not yet ready to give birth to the promise. Steward that zeal towards prayerful preparation and careful revision of the lessons from the secret place. Remain under godly covering.
3. Third Trimester = Get ready for radical enlargement, growing aches & pains, and readiness for birth. Everything about you is testifying that the time for birth is near, from your gait to the rhythm of your breath. Amidst the fatigue from carrying the spiritual weight of the promise, you may experience a supernatural surge of strength (“nesting”) to prepare your environment (spiritually & physically) as the time draws near to birth the promise.
4. Birth = Get ready, for once the process starts, it cannot be stopped – similar to a tidal wave! Aches, pains, waves, and groans will often accompany birthing the promise into the earth. There is a cost to be a channel of glory, and a great honour! The cost is always worth it in the end. There is a combination of emotions here: excitement, anticipation, nerves, uncertainty, and the like. Have a steady, supportive, and (if possible) experienced birthing partner support you during this process. Pray for suitable birthing partner that will best suit the promise that you a birthing, whether that promise is a child, a ministry, a book, or a business, ask God to send a faithful and experienced doula to guide and support you through the process [like the diligent and faithful Shiphrah & Puah from Exodus 1:15-21]
5. Post Partum = This process is one that is often overlooked. However, it is equally – if not more – important. It is marked by dedicating the promise back to the LORD as you carefully and prayerfully tend to it. Here, there is reflective recovery regarding the process it took to birth the promise. During this stage, you will also experience a period of unique adaptation and enlarged capacity, alongside ongoing lessons in how to steward this newly birthed reality. Don’t rush the process to heal and recover from the inside out. Soak it all in and be nourished, for the quality of your nourishment will directly impact the nourishment that comes out of you. [See Ezekiel 3:10-11 NLT ~ [10] Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. [11] Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.”]
Elizabeth & Mary:
THIS IS A SEASON IN WHICH ELIZABETH-IAN PROPHETS & PIONEERS WILL SAY:
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!” – Luke 1:45 (NIV)
The Lord has established “Elizabeth’s” and “Mary’s” in this hour.
The task of “Elizabeth” is to pioneer, to venture ahead, to beckon, to encourage, and to nurture the gift residing within “Mary”, whilst stewarding her own promise.
Elizabeth was carrying her own promise that was purposed to prepare the way for Mary’s. This is why Elizabeth’s promise (John the Baptist) could recognize Mary’s promise (Jesus) from the womb! There is a prophetic connection between the “Elizabeth” and “Mary” of this hour, and their circumstances will tell a greater story than what meets the eye. They are a prophetic declaration, purposed to provoke beautiful faith and hope throughout the body of Christ. Righteous restoration will abound as a result of their faith.
Soon, all the LORD’s people shall declare alongside the “Elizabeth’s”:
“Blessed (are they) who believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises (to them)!”
How does one actively wait (well)?
QAVAH – To wait, to look for, to hope, to expect (Blue Letter Bible, 2025)
Many have waited on a physical manifestation to grant them permission to walk in the confidence of what God has promised. To those individuals, I encourage you to believe in God’s declaration before the tangible manifestation, for a promise established in the spirit is just as real as its physical manifestation.
Like Hannah, who received her promise from Eli and went on in peace, go and do the same. Hannah knew that Eli’s word was as good as receiving a positive pregnancy test. That’s all she needed to be at peace and confident.
17 Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.” 18 She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.
1 Samuel 1:17-18
Here are a few pointers for what you can do during the waiting process:
1. Prepare the way!
- Amidst the appearance of barrenness, have the foresight of John The Baptist, who could taste the meal that was coming (Christ) BEFORE he was formally revealed in His earthly form.
John recognized Christ IN-VITRO. He perceived him and acknowledged him before the vast majority did. Before Christ was formally revealed and publicly acknowledged, John The Baptist was not sitting. Rather, he (under God’s leading) actively proclaimed truth and prepared the people for Christ’s revealing.
How are you prayerfully preparing for your promise? What are you declaring? Your tongue is the plough that will work the soil of your assigned territories. It can dig and plant with the intent to bring forth thriving fruit, however, it can equally dig graves and bury with the intent to suffocate.
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. – Proverbs 18:21
Are you planting (for growth), or burying (for death)?
3. Protect your seed of faith
- Be careful not to partner with what the enemy offers. Fiercely protect your seed of faith, for your faith is not imaginary – it is ACTIVE. Satan comes after your faith through discouragement because he knows that your faith pleases God.
4. DON’T RESIST THE PROCESS
- Recognize that as you accept this mantle/seed/responsibility, that it WILL come with a process. Do not be naïve to this process (1 Peter 4:12 – Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.)
He who started this good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
Be aware:
The seed you carry is dependant on the nourishment of your surroundings. Do not flee from your God given covering during moments of vulnerability.
As we read earlier in Genesis, Hagar began treating Sarai with contempt after having conceived. The story continues below:
5 Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord judge between you and me.” 6“Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think best.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her. 7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8 And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. 9 Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” 10 The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.” – Genesis 16:3-10
Superficial places of nourishment will not cut it during the “pregnancy” process. During this time, you will need to glean from those (like Abraham) who have learnt how to dig and maintain deep wells, and you shall benefit and be nourished from the wells they have dug.
Should you (like Hagar) ever find yourself without a reliable covering, the Source of the well will lead you to the well you need right when you need it. See the scripture below:
[14] So Abraham got up early the next morning, prepared food and a container of water, and strapped them on Hagar’s shoulders. Then he sent her away with their son, and she wandered aimlessly in the wilderness of Beersheba. [15] When the water was gone, she put the boy in the shade of a bush. [16] Then she went and sat down by herself about a hundred yards away. “I don’t want to watch the boy die,” she said, as she burst into tears. [17] But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. [18] Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.” [19] Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water. She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink.
Genesis 21:14-19 (NLT)
What you carry does not require the mere appearance of prosperity and health; what you are carrying is fully reliant on the living waters of the Spirit to keep it bubbling, fresh and alive.
Your faith (a gift from God) is fuel to the fire, fiercely guard it with the grace given to you by God.
An aspect of guarding your faith and keeping it pure comes from staying close to the God appointed pillars that will aid in keeping you standing strong during times of difficulty (when you don’t have the strength to stand on your own). Godly pillars will also ground you in times of prosperity, when it’s catastrophically tempting to exalt oneself out of the place of divine covering.
Final charge:
How will we respond to the promises we have been invited to steward?
Will we, like Mary, faithfully partner with the Spirit of God in releasing what he has called us to bring forth into the earth?
Or will we doubt, like Zechariah, and have our influence silenced so that our faithlessness may not spread?
How will we walk now that we have conceived in the spirit? May the LORD guard us from becoming contemptuous, and forgive us for where we have already done so.
“I have blessed you with a spiritual seed, but will you nurture and steward that blessing for my glory?”
May the LORD keep us faithful.
Peace
